On the 27th of April, co-author of “The Bee Book” Craig Smith is making a visit to the University of Sunderland in London. He will deliver a session on how to lead in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) World. With rapid and shifting requirements from stakeholders, it is often unclear as to where we should look for inspiration and guidance.
“What can we learn about dealing with a VUCA world from an insect with only 1/10000th the neurons of a human being?”
Craig Smith looks at the way honeybees deal with the challenges of the natural world and he draws interesting parallels that we can apply in our busy and sometimes chaotic working lives. This session will challenge many of the assumptions we have made about how we run our organisations. These assumptions date back to a time when the world was more predictable and stable than it is now. It will not be about entomology, it will be a session about real leadership lessons that we need to learn quickly if our organisations are to survive and thrive going forward.
It will be an opportunity for you to meet and interact with Craig Smith who is a leading Organisational Development consultant who has delivered sessions at universities including Newcastle University, Henley Business School, York St. John University, The University of Portsmouth, Durham University, Teesside University and Northumbria University. Craig also works with organisations such as PepsiCo, Babcock International, Tesco and Tommee Tippee. He is currently working with Flint Spark consulting, delivering innovative facilitation, training and consultancy services to organisations in the public and private sector helping them to lead and manage culture change more effectively. Craig is also with BigPicture Leaning, developing innovative and engaging communication toolkits built around colourful visual metaphors. These toolkits enable organisations to efficiently and innovatively communicate complex visions and strategies to their employees and stakeholders.
Craig has a passion for helping organisations and individuals to achieve their full potential. He believes that work should be engaging, stimulating and meaningful. He helps to create an environment where this is possible regardless the sector you operate in.
